So, how did vaping come about?
The first known mention of an E-cigarette patent was in the 1930s. It was given to a Joseph Robinson, the one who has the patent. Despite this, it was never commercialized. Hon Lik, a man from Beijing successfully made the first electronic cigarette to be commercially available in 2003.

The Evolution of Vaping Products:
The first generation of vapes was largely inspired by traditional cigarettes. They were even given the nickname, “Cig-A-Like.” Due to being the first of their kind, they were reported to be weightier than their modern counterparts. They also had insufficient battery lives.
The second generation of vapes boasted a longer-lasting battery capacity. They are also known as “vape pens.” If you’re a beginner, vape pens usually get recommended to you. It has mechanisms to avoid it from overheating and the e-liquid tank level is also made visible.
The third generation is most commonly known as mods or advanced personal vaporizers. Apart from having more battery power, you can also regulate the amount of its power consumption. Third-generation vapes also regulate airflow and temperature for a better vaping experience.
They have two types of mods:
- Mechanical Mods
No electricity is being used in it, making it simpler compared to other devices. It only makes use of raw battery power. It is a fan-favorite of more experienced vapers due to its notably low resistance builds. Mechanical mods offer a higher vapor production giving you extra amounts of flavor. However, safety is not guaranteed when using them and it does not have a warning system installed to inform you that your vape is running out of power.
- Regulated Mods
It gets its name from the internal circuit board that is regulating its electricity flow. When using regulated mods, you must set its wattage within the safe limits of its coils as they can be manually adjusted. They are commonly used by vape beginners. They usually have built-in digital displays that allow you to view your vape’s available information. The downside is that it needs specific coils to work.
The fourth-generation vaping technology was inspired by Nikola Tesla. It is called the Alternating Current-Mode or the ACM. It works by sending an electrical current to the coils in a bi-directional pattern. ACM will reportedly extend coil life by the reduction of carbon build-up and by increasing coil saturation.
